Nights at the Joslyn

  • The Joslyn Art Museum 2200 Dodge Street Omaha, NE, 68102 United States (map)

Once a month The Joslyn stays open for a special evening of art immersion, including everything from gallery talks, to live music, to tasty food and drinks.

This month get to know the American art collection, which has been reinstalled with an emphasis on the Great Plains.

There is a new interactive digital display that provides unprecedented access to the renowned Maximilian-Bodmer collection interpreted by Native American knowledge bearers, and the importance of the Museum’s Native American Art Advisory Committee’s ongoing guidance.

Don’t miss your chance to get a crash course on the collection with the curator during a discussion at 6 pm.

Opera Omaha will perform in the gallery at 5:15 p.m. and 7 p.m. Holland Community Fellows Rosemary Joyce and Alejandra Sandoval-Montañez, with Head of Music Josh Quinn, will present music inspired by the European Collection and Impressionism.

There will also be drop-in sketching, and a chance to participate in Studio 1, an art-making project that focuses on creating adornments and learning about how trade impacted what Native Americans made. This is developed and led by the Bluebird Cultural Initiative.
